Bathroom Remodel

Finally getting some more house pics up! When we bought our house in North Carolina, we knew we had some updates to do before we could move in. Nothing structural, all just cosmetic to get the house out of the 90s :) You can see our kitchen remodel back HERE

Before I dive into what our master bathroom looks like now, let's take a second to appreciate the before. Typical 90s/early 2000s builder grade style. While I do love to soak in the tub, this thing was just too bulky and taking up sooo much space. And the dark colors didn't help by making the space feel even more claustrophobic.

So here's a list of what we did:
Ripped out the old tub and replaced it with a modern standalone
Removed the dated light fixtures
Removed the dark back splash and updated the paint color to Repose Grey
Painted the vanities a nice white (can't remember the color!) and replaced the hardware
Changed out the floor to a dark tile
Replaced the mirrors with modern, circular wood mirrors
Replaced the decorative insert tile in the shower

**By keeping a lot of the existing components, and doing mostly aesthetic work, this project wasn't a budget breaker! I think AJ was pretty shocked at how low I kept this one :)

Because this shower was practically brand new and REALLY nice quality, I couldn't bring myself to rip it out even though it wasn't my style. The only change I made was replacing the accent tile with a more neutral pallet. I don't love the cream wall tile or the browns on the floor tile, but I used the wood mirrors, bathtub tray, and laundry basket to bring it all together.

Again these vanities aren't my first choice, but they were in perfect condition.. So we slapped a coat of paint on them and will live with them (and the counter tops) for several more years.

Dark bathroom floors were at the tip top of my list and I was so glad I could make it work in here. We had gorgeous white marble floors in our old house, but oh my gosh they were impossible to keep clean. These don't show a thing, and I love how they tie the bathroom together.

T-minus 20 weeks until that glass has wine not water :) But seriously, this tub is amazing. Maddie and I both use it all.the.time. And tip - the ones at Loews/HD are absolutely insane. I snagged this one off Wayfair and I could not be happier!

And that's it! It feels so incredibly spacious; AJ and I are never running over each other getting ready. And the light colors and modern design just make the start to our mornings a little bit better :)

In AJ Home Moving

We're moving... again.

Back last December when we finally purchased our very first home, we thought we would be in it for at LEAST five years. We completely re-did the backyard, put in hardwoods, installed a playground for MJ, plantation shutters, the works! And well life happened...

AJ was contacted on LinkedIn about a job in Charlotte, NC and we both literally laughed out loud. There was NO way we were going to move to North Carolina when we had finally made it back to our beloved Atlanta. So AJ threw out an astronomical number and said he would move for that and they said.. okay, done. We were blown away and then this ridiculous idea became more of a real possibility.

He interviewed with them, but everyday leading up to that, it still wasn't real to us. But then he fell in love the company, the technologies, the team, and the insane opportunity that this would afford him professionally and us financially as a family.

I had originally thought I would just stay in Atlanta and AJ would commute back and forth to Charlotte each week. (It's only a 3.5 hr drive.) But then reality set in and raising an almost three year old, a dog, working full time, and running a household seemed like a very daunting life. So we spent the last two weekends in the Charlotte area looking around at different neighborhoods, and I'm finally on board!

We have a big FOR SALE sign in our yard in Atlanta and we are closing on this gorgeous house at the end of the month. It's in a smaller town outside of Charlotte, called Huntersville. (Where AJ's office is located.)  This area is so incredibly affordable - we are getting DOUBLE the square footage for the exact same price as our ATL house. We have some renovations to do, and I am excited to put my touch on it.

My company is also incredibly generous enough to allow me to work remotely part time. I feel so incredibly blessed that AJ's job is going to let me scale back on working and spend more time with my girl. We are going to enroll MJ in a small half day preschool and she will get to pal around with me in the afternoons!

If you would have told me this two months ago, I wouldn't have believed you for a second. Never say never, huh? Life is crazy and I am so lucky to have some amazing friends and family rooting me on from the sidelines to keep rolling with what life throws.

Here's to the Pryors moving to the Queen City!

In Gigi Moving Weekends What's Up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday

I'm joining MelShay, and Sheaffer for their What's Up Wednesday link-up!

1. What we're eating this week...
We are semi settled into our new house, but only have a grill and paper plates until the moving truck gets here! So.. the options are minimal around here.
Saturday night: Amanda and I baked pizza for the boys
Sunday night: Mom, Chip, AJ & I used his new grill for the first time and had burgers and corn (on our card table and folding chairs, ha!)

Monday night: Alix brought over steak, potatoes, and asparagus to grill
Tuesday night: We tried one of the (many!!) super cute downtown Woodstock restaurants, Freight Kitchen - cheers to our first dinner as a family in Woodstock!

Then the rest of the week I will be throwing together whatever I can for me and Maddie.. most likely some frozen chicken nuggets and ham sandwiches around here! Come back home soon Daddy!!

2. What I'm reminiscing about...
Our last day in California! Jenny and I both cried on Maddie's last day of daycare. This lady was such a special part of our lives and we will be forever thankful for the love she gave our girl.

AJ hit the road as soon as the moving truck finished packing our things and we stayed at a hotel before our flight Friday morning. My bestest California friend Kelsey came over for one last goodbye. This girl. I can't even talk about how much I'm going to miss her. So incredibly thankful to have found a forever friend on the west coast.

 3. What I'm loving...
Our new house!! Man oh man it is so nice to have so much space!! Maddie and Molly are both loving being outside all.the.time. Living in California for four years really made me thankful for the little things.. Forever grateful for what that time in our lives taught me.

4. What we've been up to...
Unpacking, buying, and welcoming Daddy home! AJ spent 4 days driving across the country with our car and Molly. We were so excited when he got home Sunday afternoon!!

5. What I'm dreading...
Unpacking all our things!! So our bed was delivered Saturday.. couch comes today.. washer/dryer comes next Saturday. But we really have no clue when all our stuff from California will be here. It could come any time in the next week! I am so anxious to get it, but dreading it all at the same time!

6. What I'm working on...
Trying my best to keep this girl on schedule and feeling comfortable in a new environment. She is so go with the flow, that it hasn't been hard at all! She had the BEST first day of school and adapted to her new environment of eating family style and sleeping on a cot just fine! I am so proud of her! And she is making sure her babies are comfortable too! Look at this little Mama tucking Chloe in night night into the kitchen mat! haha

7. What I'm excited about...
Decorating!! All of our old bedroom stuff is going in the guest bedroom, so I really got to start from scratch with our room. The rest of our house is going to be farmhouse chic, so I was excited to make the master more spa/modern. (Totally making up these descriptions.. just go with it, ha!) This is the only place in the house that is even remotely close to being done and I am LOVING it!!

8. What I'm watching/reading...
I don't really have time to watch or read anything these days.. Just unpacking/cleaning/decorating like crazy. My DVR is getting backed up with the Bachelorette, Southern Charm, and Teen Mom. What a mix!

9. What I'm listening to...
The birds chirping and the rain falling! I know I'm a broken record over here, but y'all.. it is so good to be back in the South.

10. What I'm wearing...
Whatever I can find! I packed several suitcases full of stuff, but my iron is in a box on the truck!! So I am just trying to throw together whatever outfits I can for work..

11. What I'm doing this weekend...
AJ had to go back to Cali today for a week of teaching a class. So it's just me and this girl holding down the fort. Fingers crossed our stuff gets here so I can start unpacking!

12. What I'm looking forward to next month...
Enjoying our new house and yard!! Getting settled in.. Honey is coming to visit.. then it's Father's Day weekend (first time hosting people in our new house!!).. then we end the month with a Jones' family lake trip! IT IS SO GOOD TO BE HOME.

XOXO,
