In Maddie Jane Month by Month

THREE MONTHS

Three months?! Where oh where have the past 13 weeks gone Maddie girl? It seems like yesterday I was walking into the hospital to be induced. I feel absolutely devastated that our nonstop 24/7 time together has come to an end. These past three months have been filled with some of the longest and hardest days of my life, but I would give the world to get to do them all over agin. Sometimes I would stare at the clock, counting the minutes until bed time only to miss you and want to pick you right back up 5 minutes after lying you down. You're my world. I THOUGHT I loved you on November 30, 2015. Boy oh boy has my love for you surpassed everything I could ever imagine.

EAT
You're doing so well eating! You struggled moving up to 4 ounces.. you did not want to eat more, but would be hungry again just an hour after eating. After much persistence, we have you eating 4 ounces every 3 hours during the day. Most evenings, you know bed time is coming and will stock up and drink around 6 ounces to get settled in for the night. You KNOW our routine and you KNOW when it's time to eat and you will let us all KNOW if we are running behind! Also, your tummy troubles are pretty much nonexistent now. Woo who!!

SLEEP
Over the past two weeks, we have really gotten you on a great schedule. You cat nap throughout the morning, always take a solid 2-3 hour nap in the early afternoon, quick nap around 6pm, and bath/bottle/bed at 8:30pm. You wake up sometime around 3-5am and have a bottle and diaper change and back asleep for 3 more hours. We are SO proud of you, but are SO nervous about how you're going to do at daycare. You fight sleep during the day and sometimes need a lot of coaxing and the perfect environment to get to sleep. I'm sure you are going to adapt like a champ to daycare, but I'm expecting these first few weeks to be rough.

DEVELOPMENT
Every month your personality becomes more fun! You are so interactive. You constantly crave our attention and want us in your line of sight at all times. You love siting on our lap and kicking those crazy legs. You are a champ at sitting in your bumbo and are liking it a lot more these days.  You have discovered your feet and love sticking your whole fist in your mouth (because you can't quite figure out that thumb of yours). I think you might be in the early stages of teething with that fist always in your mouth and holy cow.. the drool! So much drool. We are working on tummy time - you either fuss or fall asleep, ha! We try to work on your neck strength by holding you up right as we walk around the house and with your bumbo though. Daddy put together your jumparoo this month and you will sit in it for a few minutes, but not quite ready for it yet.

LOVE/HATE
You LOVE flirting with your Daddy and will smile and giggle at him every.single.time. You are so happy in the mornings and LOVE to kick your arms and legs while watching "jungle tv" (crib soother monitor). You HATE being in the car unless we are going really fast and hitting every single pot hole, ha! Oh girl, you scream and scream and drench your outfit in sweat from getting so upset in that dang carseat! You LOVE bath time but HATE those few minutes after bath time where you have to be dressed and lotioned up before your last bottle. You LOVE hearing that voice of yours and giggle and giggle when you can copy the sounds Mommy is making.

Oh Maddie Jane, your Daddy and I love you SO much. Every evening we will sit with you and be absolutely blown away at how quickly you are changing. You are GORGEOUS and we just do not know how we got so lucky to be your parents. You have us wrapped around your finger with that contagious smile of yours. I have tried to soak up every single moment with you, I have memorized your face and your smile, I have learned your mannerisms and unique little characteristics. I know exactly what makes you happy and that exact little bounce you need to get to sleep. Mama is going to miss you SO much during the day, but I know our evenings and weekends are just going to become even more special. We love you Maddie girl!!!

In Fashion Friday Favorites Maddie Jane

Friday Favorites

Hey, y’all!! It’s Friday, and I'm linking back up with NarciErika and Andrea for Friday Favorites!!
1. Reminiscing
I have been super sentimental this week and have been looking through a ton of pictures of Maddie Jane. I just cannot believe how much she has changed in the past 13 weeks!! I recreated a couple this week so you can see the insane difference. I am so NOT looking forward to leaving my girl Monday..

2. Moscow Mules
Man oh man, I LOVE this cocktail. And you know what makes it even better?? Having the proper cup! Mom sent us a Starbucks gift card and Williams Sonoma gift card for Valentine's Day. That Starbucks card lasted about 2 days.. we have a serious coffee drinking problem over here. And I just put the Williams Sonoma card to use, finally purchasing a Moscow Mule cup! These copper cups are not cheap, so if you come over to have Moscow Mules with me, we'll have to share the same cup, ha!

3. Bikinis??
So I lied... I THOUGHT I was hanging up the bikinis. I ordered my new "mom tankini" and put it on and it was awful. I mean it made me look three times bigger!!! So I pulled out my bikinis, put one on, and was actually feeling pretty good about myself! So.. I guess that's what I'm rocking on the beach this summer, ha! I'm back on the hunt for some cute new suits. Thoughts on these??

4. Date night!!
Last Friday night, we had our very first date night with a babysitter! I really worked myself up over it and it was FINE. I was totally fine and Maddie girl did great!! (In fact, she slept through the night for the first time ever that night!!)

We put our names on the list at Sugarfish (they don't take reservations) then headed across the street to a cute little bar to wait out our 1.5 hour wait time! (Side note: When they told us it would be an hour and a half wait, AJ was SURE I was going to be like "Nope. We are going home now." And I was cool as a cucumber!! Love surprising him by not being a total basket case hahah)

Two cocktails and an hour later we decided to head back across the street and right as we were walking in the door, they were calling my cell letting us know they had some cancellations. Woop! So pumped to get our grub on and not be away from our girl THAT long!

Sugar fish is SO.GOOD. If you're ever in LA - you gotta go. The fish is insanely fresh, insanely good and insanely affordable. We had SUCH a good time. We had not had a date night like that (drinks, dinner, etc alone) since last March!! It really really rejuvenated my soul and I can't wait to do it again. LOVE this man of mine!!

5. Maddie Jane
Afternoon snuggles with my girl are the BEST. She is so lovey and gets super excited when her Daddy gets home.

However, she was NOT pleased when Daddy took her jacket off! hahaha

But Mama snuggles made it ALLLL better. I know I have said it a million times, but I am NOT READY to be away from my girl! Please pray for me next week. It is going to be rough on this Mama!!

Y'all have a great weekend! I will be back on Monday talking about my girl turning THREE MONTHS OLD! ahhh

In Books Easter Recipes What's Up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday

The last Wednesday of every month, I will be linking up with Mel at The Larson Lingo, Shay at Mix and Match Family, and Sheaffer at Pinterest Told Me To.

Strap in, this is a LONG post! How I used to do these every week is beyond me!

1. What we're eating this week...

Saturday we hit up one of our favorite dive bars - Barney's! Nothing like a good burger and draft beer with your infant :) #parentsoftheyear

Sunday: I cooked the sausage skillet from last week we never got around to fixing.. oops!
Monday: Boiled shrimp tossed in a garlic lemon sauce with baked red potatoes
Tuesday: Whole roasted chicken with rice pilaf
Wednesday: I'm using the leftover chicken to make a Chicken Spinach Mushroom Alfredo casserole. You can find the recipe HERE

Thursday and Friday, AJ is going to be at a conference so I will be taking advantage of leftovers and miiiight just order some take out as a treat for two nights of Maddie by myself, ha!

2. What I'm reminiscing about...

Thanks Timehop for always having me reminiscing. Oh high school.. This feels like WAY more than 8 years ago. Man oh man, we thought we were SO COOL.

Vegas date night at FIJI .. ha! Love this guy.

3. What I'm loving...

I am LOVING Maddie Jane's sleeping. She is doing really, really well. We consistently get 6 hours straight a night and sometimes we luck out and get 8-9!! I really shouldn't be posting this.. you know what they say... the second you brag about your baby's sleeping, they will stop sleeping!

And we have been working on napping too! I am really concerned about her having to nap in a crib at daycare next week, so I have been trying to train her. Normally she naps in her swing and sleeps at night in her cradle, so trying our hardest to make crib sleep happen! Today she went down without a single pat on the bottom! Now if I can only get her to stay asleep longer than 10 minutes!

4. What we've been up to...

Saturday night AJ's boss and research team hosted a baby shower for Maddie Jane. They all showed us SO much love! We are so incredibly fortunate to have so many people in California that love our girl! Unfortunately, this is the ONLY picture I took. Mom fail.

Last night I took Maddie girl to meet up with some of my coworkers. She was SUCH a sweet baby and was a total ham!!

5. What I'm dreading...

Leaving this girl next Monday. Holy cow I cannot believe 13 weeks have already come and gone. I am going to miss her SO MUCH. Bring on all the tears. I am NOT ready for this!!

6. What I'm working on...

Cleaning the house, organizing everything, and trying to go ahead and make the life of a working mom be as smooth of a transition as possible. Planning on setting outfits out the night before and having the diaper bag packed. Any other tips Mamas??

7. What I'm excited about...

My mom is coming to LA in two weeks!!! AJ has a business trip and I will be doing a few days by myself (please go ahead and add me to your prayer list!!) but thankfully Mom will be here for four days to help me out. SO ready for some girl time :) And look at these two!! They already have the sweetest bond. We LOVE Gigi!!

8. What I'm watching/reading...

Of course, the Bachelor. If you're an avid watcher like me, you GOTTA go read Sheaffer's recaps every week. They are HILARIOUS.

And Shonda has had me hooked since I was like 13 with Grey's and the past couple years with Scandal, but HTGAWM is starting to lose me. I'm not a big fan of the direction the show is going..

I have never read any of Sally Hepworth's books, but saw this as a suggestion on Shay's monthly book review awhile back and decided to give it a try.

I loved the author so much, I decided to read her most recent book as well! Both are great, easy reads you can pick up anytime (or like me, read mindlessly at 4 am on your Kindle app on your phone while feeding a baby, ha!)

9. What I'm listening to...

Currently listening to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.. hot dog, hot dog, hot digitty dog!

10. What I'm wearing...

Well normally I am rocking pajamas or yoga pants, BUT I was putting on a little fashion show for Paige last week when trying to decide what to wear on my date night. I am actually looking forward to wearing real clothes again regularly, ha!

11. What I'm doing this weekend...

AJ will be at the conference until late Friday night, so after MJ goes to bed, Mama will be snuggled up on the couch watching FULLER HOUSE! I have been so looking forward to this for months!! Wine, take out and netflix? You got it dude!

12. What I'm looking forward to next month...

Easter! I started working on Maddie's Easter basket today actually. And I am already counting down until I get Good Friday off from work, ha!

13. What else is new...

have mentioned this conference AJ is attending the next two days a couple times in this post. Well it's not just any conference, he will be speaking in front of a Nobel Prize winner!! He is the only speaker that does not already have a PhD. This is HUGE, he is getting noticed by the Physics community and I could not be more proud of him!! His intelligence and drive is mind blowing. He works SO hard. I mean all day, all night, this guy is working. Thankfully he will stop every now and then to take a selfie :) ha
