In Blue Apron Family Maddie Jane Molly Weekends

Life Lately

After leaving Hawaii at 9pm on Friday night and not getting back till 3pm on Saturday, we were pooped! We did a lot of this on Saturday and Sunday.. Then AJ and I tackled the backyard.

We purchased Maddie Jane a playground right before we left for Hawaii. She showed us (yet again) that she is absolutely fearless, and would climb up every side of that thing at lightning speed. So we knew we need to get something soft under it ASAP for when she inevitably falls.

We first tacked down garden fabric to keep any weeds, grass, etc from growing. Then we dug a trench around the border and buried plastic edging. Finally we spread 40 bags of mulch over the area. We got a quote to have a landscaper do this - and while it isn't perfect - we are so glad we saved the couple thousand dollars and did it ourselves!!

I gave Maddie Jane a doctor's set for Christmas and she didn't have much interest. Now she wants to play doctor with everyone!! Especially Molly, ha!

Kell Bell and I had drinks last Tuesday. We hit our two weeks rule right on the dot. Words can't even describe how special it is to have your best friend a couple miles away.

In Hawaii I primed this pineapple corer (little influence from all the fresh fruit and maybe a glass or two of wine). And let me tell ya, it works SO WELL. You can find it HERE. Also.. we are back on the Blue Apron train.. this steak and miso butter was out of this world!!

Friday night we hit up the neighborhood pool until we got rained out..

And Saturday night we went on a date!

We met up with Alix and Nico at Mercedes Benz for the Atlanta United game. While I'm not totally sold on soccer, being in the the Benz is just mesmerizing. That stadium is the BEST.

We also got to meet up with Zac for a drink! Another thing - drinks and food at the Benz are both so affordable. They did such an amazing job when creating an entire experience at the stadium.

On Saturday AJ tried out a new poke place with me, so on Sunday I went to ramen with him.

And on Saturday afternoon we had our neighbors (well couple houses down) come over for a play date. Maddie Jane and Natalie are about 6 months apart and have the sweetest little friendship!

I had just a few minutes in between play date and the dinner we were hosting.. So I soaked up this little backyard for a sec...

Then Gramps and K came over! We hosted dinner for them as a thank you for keeping Molly while we were in Hawaii.

And last night we continued the hosting train -- AJ's cousin Austin from Shreveport is in town so we had him (and Alix/Nico) over for dinner.

He pushed Maddie on the swings, helped her with dinner, read her stories at bedtime. Just THE sweetest cousin and so glad we get to see him again in a few weeks.

And that's all!!! WOO. So much going on. We are pretty excited that we are having a low key 4th of July.. parade in Dunwoody and hanging out at our community pool. Hope you guys have the best day with your friends and family tomorrow!!

In Blue Apron Hello Fresh Recipes

All things food.

This is such a random assortment of stuff, but all food related, so stay with me here..

I never got around to talking about the end of my Nashville trip. We went to Pharmacy burger and ohhhhh my goodness. Y'all, that burger was out of this world. I'm a HUGE sour cream fan, so the stroganoff burger was right up my ally.

Next up.. Hello Fresh. We did Blue Apron for several months back in California. (I talked about it back HERE.) We received a 50% off coupon for Hello Fresh, so we decided to give it a quick two week try. First thing we noticed: better packaging. Unlike Blue Apron, I really appreciated that everything was in one bag and labeled.

With this meal, all the ingredients were great. (However, when we made the burgers the next night, our greens were completely wilted and gooey.. akk!) In terms of meat, exact same quality as Blue Apron - even same brand of some things!

These cod cakes had an amazing flavor and used a technique that we would have never done so on our own.. so major bonus points for that! However, they completely fell apart. Another thing to add, Hello Fresh requires a lot more kitchen gadgets than Blue Apron. We have more gadgets than we know what to do with, but might not be ideal for others..

We have one more week with it, so I hate to prematurely give my verdict BUT.. I don't think we will renew our subscription. Too many hiccups happened for us to pay more than we would at the grocery store for meals. It did provide us with a wonderful couple date night before AJ had to go out of town again!

Lastly.. meal prep. I know some people hate planning/prepping meals, but I actually love it! I plan our week menu for dinner and AJ executes, and then I plan out my lunches and I get them packed on Sunday. This week I was super boring and did the exact same thing for every day, because that's just how my ingredients panned out... Tuna salad, tomatoes in olive oil and vinegar, and mozzarella cheese. (I also packed bread and avocados to makes toast for breakfast and wheat thins for my tuna..)

Often times I use leftovers for my lunches.. A few weeks ago I had BBQ chicken, sauteed tomatoes and starwberries. I do notice that my fruit can struggle by Friday, so if I am having that I will wait to pack those lunches.. Also, THESE boxes are amazing for meal prep - microwave and dishwasher safe!

Another idea -- The pre-made bagged salad is great to split into two trays and pair with another side. This one was from Trader Joes and I paired it with some leftover squash casserole. I use THESE great salad dressing cups so nothing spills.

Two of my favorite things.. "snacks" for meals and dipping! These is a favorite lunch.. Chips, guac, veggies, and ranch. Put some lime juice on your guac so it doesn't brown!

Thanks for reading that crazy random post! See you back here for Friday Favorites on this glorious short week!!

In Blue Apron Fashion Maddie Jane Molly What's Up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday

The last Wednesday of every month I link up with Mel at The Larson LingoShay at Mix and Match Family, and Sheaffer at Pinterest Told Me To

1. What we're eating this week...
We are still LOVING Blue Apron and have decided to do it every other week. We get our shipments on Tuesday, so the later part of this week is fun stuff!! (I also have some free weeks to give away, so shoot me a message if you are interested!!)

Sunday: Shrimp Alfredo
Monday: Roasted Chicken w/ Tomato & Corn Salad
Tuesday: Kale & White Cheddar Quesadilla w/ Radishes & a Fried Egg
Wednesday: Southern Italian Cod Stew w/Pizza Bianca
Thursday: Seared Chicken & French Lentils w/Arugula & Feta Salad
Friday: Out to eat!!

(Side note: I normally feed this chick around 5:30 and we eat dinner after she goes to bed. On Monday, our dinner was ready before she went to sleep, so I TRIED to sit down to eat.. But all you Mamas know that's not happening. Little girl insisted on sitting in my lap and helping me with my food too. #YouCanFindMeHidingInTheBathroom #WithASnickersEgg)

2. What I'm reminiscing about...
This teeny tiny girl's first Easter popped up on my TimeHop. I can't believe how fast life is flying by!

3. What I'm loving...
Well Maddie Jane LOVES brushing her teeth. She is OBSESSED and probably has the best dental hygiene of any one year old you know.

4. What we've been up to...
We got a front row seat at Starbucks to watch the leaders of the LA Marathon come by. Maddie Jane loved cheering the runners on!

We went to Venice with Kelsey for a little ice cream at Salt & Straw. This girl is SERIOUS about her ice cream, haha!

We've spent some time out on the balcony with the gorgeous weather!

And had lunch outside down at Marina Del Rey..

This sassy girl is a pro at eating out ... just give her all the french fries and bread.

5. What I'm dreading...
Taking away the bottles! We have successfully taken away all of Maddie's bottles with zero problems, except for nap and night time ones. We gotta do it in the next month and I am dreaddddinngg the transition.

6. What I'm working on...
All things moving!!! We are constantly looking at houses daily and trying to secure something ASAP. I have the movers set to pick up our stuff, flights booked, and have started on the cleaning out/packing process. I packed up Maddie's play pin to have a big spot to start stacking boxes, and she is loving her new little area by the bookshelf!

7. What I'm excited about...
My last day of work is next Tuesday and then we are hopping on a flight that night to this place!!! We are flying to Barbados, then joining E on the ship for 10 days to St. Lucia, St. Barts, the Dominican Republic, Turks & Caicos, Key West, then wrapping it up in Miami. I haven't had a vacation where I wasn't connected to work in YEARS and I am over the moon for some serious relaxation.

8. What I'm watching/reading...
Big Little Lies!! I read this book by Liane Moriarty a year or so ago and LOVED it. I was so pumped when HBO announced they were making it into a series. The acting on this show has been amazing. Would absolutely recommend the book AND the movie!!

9. What I'm listening to...
I cannot stop listening to this little voice say, "TA DA!" Oh my goodness this video it THE sweetest. I've said it ever since she was teeny, tiny... this one is going to be our performer and class clown. Not a shy bone in that body!

10. What I'm wearing...
Transitioning the wardrobe over to more spring things! Making this winter-ish dress more springy with my FAVORITE nude heels you can find HERE.

Got this cute slip on dress from Old Navy for the cruise. You can find it HERE (andddd it's on sale!)

Pretty much 3 out of 5 days a week you can find Kelsey and I unintentionally matching at work (bc all the stripes). On Friday it was right down to the shoes (they are SOOO comfortable). You can find them HERE

I got these shoes in the mail from Nordstrom in chesnut, but I took them back for the taupe to match more of my outfits annddd now I kinda wish I had them in both colors, because they are that good. So cute, so comfortable AND on sale. You can find them HERE

11. What I'm doing this weekend...
Just hanging out with this sass pot, Molly girl and Age. We will be cleaning, packing for our trip and soaking up the 80 degree weather that is on the forecast!

12. What I'm looking forward to next month...
Our favorite guy's birthday!!! His birthday is the day after we get back from the cruise, so it will probably be pretty low key. But we def won't pass up the opportunity to celebrate the amazing husband and daddy we are lucky enough to have!! Here is a flash back to his 21st birthday! Babies.

XOXO,
