Day in the Life

Today I am linking up with Andrea over at Momfessionals to do a Day in the Life. LOVE these kind of posts and I am excited to have stuff like this on the blog to look back and remember just regular ole days..

Today started out WAY too early at 5:30am with this little family group text. SO many friends and family forget about that time zone difference.. love that you're texting me, but let this mama sleep!!

Every morning I roll out of bed, take a shower and put on my make-up while watching the news. Love this alone time all cozy in my robe and slowly waking up for the day.

I grab a small bite to eat to hold me over and fix Molly's breakfast. Fat pup KNOWS when it is breakfast time. She doesn't need to potty immediately, but food is a MUST.

I wake AJ up and make the bed while he's in the shower..

Everyone is dressed and fed.. and I have the cutest chauffeurs to drop me off at work each morning.

Emails, emails, emails..

A little peep out my office window..

About an hour into work, I head downstairs to grab breakfast. My company has bagels, cereal, fruit and yogurt every morning. It is SO convenient and saves me a lot of money!

While I eat my breakfast, I catch up on reading my favorite blogs..

More emails and spreadsheets..

My breakfast of water and a banana has caused me heart burn.. Bring on the tums..

Added in some appointments on the planner.

One of 20 bathroom trips of the day.. heyyy cooler weather in Cali! Please stick around!

My company also caters lunch every day.. Usually it is two meats, two sides, a salad bar, fruit, dessert.. Today was Mexican.

Anddd I didn't feel like eating any of it, so a big ole bowl of fruit it is..

More emails, more phone interviews..

In person interviews! Work, work, work.

I was waiting on some coworkers to leave for dinner and got a few thank you notes done..

It is very rare that we eat dinner out on a week night, but tonight we had a team dinner + significant others with my coworkers. And HEY look at my plate at dinner!!

The aftermath of family style BBQ, sides, and dessert. YUM-O

We finally headed home way past my bedtime.. Most of the time AJ takes Molly out, but I took on the duties tonight..

We receive a package almost every day of baby stuff from showers, gift card purchases and clothes that I just can't resist.. I snagged this adorable Mud Pie dress on an amazing sale and added it to her already too full closet..

Finishing up this blog, watching a little tv and we're off to bed!

Goodnight!

Show and Tell Tuesdays - Names!

Today I am linking up with Andrea @ Momfessionals for Show and Tell Tuesday! Today we are discussing names - where did yours come from, your kids, your dog! Or whatever else you name around the house.

My great grandmother "MaMa" always wanted a daughter named Anna. It was her grandmother's name (so my great, great, great grandmother!) She had EIGHT kids and my PaPa picked out all eight names, never letting her use Anna. So when I came around in 1989, Mom decided she would give me the first name Anna. I had the pleasure of getting to spend eleven years with this incredible woman. She was a pistol - always blunt - and I'd like to think that's where I get my lack of filter from! Love this lady, and would love to have a conversation with her today!!

Claudell, Adele, Audrey (my grandmother), Carl, Cody, Curt, and Addie (Charlie not pictured)
Side note: please check out my Aunt Adele and Grandma rocking the hand on the hip!! #sassy

Grace is my great grandmother's name. She is the mother of my grandfather Wilbur - plus Danny, Jeanette, Martina, Linda, Betty, Warren and Jimmy. (If you can't tell, I have a BIG family!!) I never had the pleasure of knowing "Big Mama" but I am told that she was the kindest, most gentle and smartest homemaker ever. I can see this shining through so many of my family members, and I feel absolutely honored to be named after this amazing lady!

Side note: also very thankful my Mom decided for me to go by both names! I wouldn't change my Southern double name for the world!

So on to my hypothetical kids.. I think every girl loves playing this game. What are you going to name your kids?? AJ doesn't have suggestions, but he definitely will shoot something down in a heart beat. Luckily he doesn't have any qualms with some of the names I have had picked out for forever!

I decided at the ripe age of 13 that I would name my little girl Madelyn. I don't know why, but it has always stuck with me. AJ and I have decided to have unique first names and have family middle names for each of our children. Our future little girl (if God blesses us with one!) will have the middle name of Jane after his maternal grandmother and go by Maddie Jane. (Also funny that my mom called me Sally Jane when I was a kid!)

Baylor is another name I have had picked out for quite some time. It was the main character of a book I was reading several years ago (I think by Mary Kay Andrews?) and I just fell in love. My hypothetical Baylor will have the middle name Lanier. Lanier is my sweet Grandan Wilbur's middle name. (Also a lake in Georgia which I think is pretty cool..)

I have this big dream in my head that we will one day have a boy named Baylor and AJ will get a job at Baylor University and we will live in Waco, Texas and have a home designed by Chip and Joanna Gains. hahahha As my mother always tells me, I put the cart before the horse. But it's fun dreaming, right??

Show and Tell Tuesday - Favorite Vacation

Today I am linking up with Momfessionals to talk about my favorite vacation ever!

I think I have had the traveling bug all of my life. There has never been a destination that seemed too far away or unattainable. I took my first flight at the age of 5 visiting my Uncle Clint in Phoenix and have been hooked ever since! My mom was so gracious to constantly take me here and there and encourage as many trips as possible. From simple vacations like the beaches of Florida to spending three weeks in Europe when I was 16 years old. So so thankful to have been afforded the opportunity to see so many new and exciting places and now have a husband that shares my traveling desires! And that's why my favorite vacation was our month long honeymoon in Europe!

I'm just going to talk about our 2 weeks of back packing. The other two weeks with Cruise Gran will have to be saved for another post!

Yes, everything I need for two weeks and five countries is in that backpack! ahh

First stop - Paris, France. Such a magical and romantic place to begin our honeymoon!!

We landed in Paris at 5am and did sight seeing until late that night! We crammed SO much into that first day that we ended up playing checkers and drinking wine all.day.long on the third day in Paris. (Not to mention we could barely move from the over 23 MILES we had walked during the previous 2 days.)

We budgeted ourselves to $100 a day for food/drinks/museum entries/souvenirs. So we had a lot of meals like this and I was not upset about it at all!! I could live off meat, cheese and wine!

We purchased a Euro-Rail pass that allowed us to travel to 5 congruent countries. We spent a lot of time of trains.. sleeping, eating, reading or checking out the country side. I read 5 books during those two weeks!

Next stop - Munich, Germany! Such an awesome contrast to Paris. We were ready for some beer after all that wine in Paris!

We met some guys from LSU at our hostel and headed out for some German cuisine. It was great to finally speak English again and get some German grub with our new friends.

We didn't get to see any events, but we did get to check out the site of the Munich X Games.

Destination #3 - Prague, Czech Republic. We had a little apartment instead of a 6 person hostel room. AJ was so excited to get back in the kitchen! Each night we picked up some fresh veggies and a meat or pasta at a road side produce stand and came home to cook.

The architecture of Prague was by far my favorite of the entire trip. I fell in love with this city - it has absolutely been added to my "Go Back To" list.

This. Castle. ahhh it was beyond gorgeous. It was built in 870 and houses the Czech President. It is the largest castle in the world - almost the size of SEVEN football fields.

One night we went to the famous 5 story bar in Prague - Karlovy Lazne. The basement was a really cool ice bar!

The next country we hopped over to was Austria! We stayed in the city of Vienna.

We did not have international service on our cell, so Google maps was not an option. We did a LOT of this over those two weeks.

The famous Vienna dessert - Sachertourte. We usually did a lot of sight seeing in the mornings and had dessert and coffee wine in the afternoon.

Vienna is the country's capitol and largest city. However, they have a super high tech rail system that makes getting around the city a breeze. We easily saw all the high-points in 3 days.

Our trip from Austria to Croatia was hell on Earth eventful to say the least. We were on a portion of the train the disconnected and went to Italy in the middle of the night. Upon realizing this around 3am, we hopped off and tried to figure out a game plan.

One bus, three trains, and eight hours past our scheduled arrival, we finally made it to Croatia! Talk about a test of your marriage wayyy too early on! We actually just laughed and laughed that day, because what else could you do??

Look. At. This. All of the headache was so worth these gorgeous views in Rijeka, Coratia!

Absolutely breathtaking. Croatia has gone on my "Go Back To" list as well. I would love to yacht up the coast during Yacht Week- I will let you know when I win the lottery, ha!

This meal was our favorite of the entire trip. We still talk about it to this day!! Not a single person spoke English in the restaurant, they just brought over a huge pan of raw fish and motioned for us to choose. It was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I was able to find it on Google Maps and recommend it to our cousins who are are going to Croatia this summer.

I could go on and on and on about this vacation. It was a trip of a lifetime. I doubt AJ and I will ever be able to take a month off from our lives to do something of this magnitude ever again. Even though we had both traveled abroad before, this was such an adventure. We were alone, no cell service, did not know the language or currency or where our next meal was coming from.. This trip was such an amazing start to our marriage and there isn't a single person in this world I would want to do it it with besides him.

After Croatia, we hopped on a plane to Denmark to meet up with SEVENTEEN of AJ's family members for a two week Norwegian cruise. I will absolutely have to tell you guys about it soon!

xoxo,
