In Maddie Jane Mother's Day Weekends

Mother’s Day Weekend

I had the BEST weekend with my sweet girl who made me Mama. AJ was flying back from California on Saturday so we had a girls' morning running errands. Then Jessica and her pup Henry came over to play!  First weekend in a longgg time I had not done yard work, and it was nice!

Maddie Jane picked out this new bathing suit and we hit up our community pool for the first time! That girl is FEARLESS - 5 mins in she was jumping off the side, and 15 mins in she was jumping off the diving board! She is such a little fish and love, love, loves the water!

AJ got home that afternoon and we surprised him with a congrats balloon! Maddie Jane had been practicing all morning saying "Good job Daddy!" We are SO PROUD of him and cannot believe his PhD is finnaalllyyy OVER!!!!

Sunday morning we took it super easy... mimosas, my favorite breakfast, playing outside.

AJ and MJ made me a homemade card and I could not have asked for anything better!! So stinkin sweet and she was SO proud!

Maddie Jane painted us a million pictures and I hung them on display on the fence.

I know every mom says this BUT look at my little artist! She kept looking at my hydrangea bush and tried painting it! So impressed little Picasso!

Maddie Jane was wayyyyy too excited about the prospect of going back to the pool so she veto'd nap time and we headed to swim!

Post swim we had popsicles and played outside some more.

And Mama got in on the popsicle action too! (SUCH a good combo, btw)

And she rode her bicycle around our drive way no less than 50 times. She is SO proud of herself and has gotten SO good at riding very quickly. Oh my heart could just burst watching this girl! I am SO lucky she calls me Mama.

In Exercise Family Maddie Jane Mother's Day Weekends

Life lately.. Mother's Day Weekend

Last Friday night we did our weekly tradition of eating at Pitfire Pizza. They know our names, our order, they bring Molly water and Maddie play dough. We are going to miss that place, the people, and the REALLY good pizza so much!!
(Also, her BIG cheesy grin. I die.)

I got home and found my Mother's Day gift to myself had come in the mail! Baublebar at Target is soooo good, and sooo cheap. I got all this really good quality jewelry for only $30!

After a fun evening, I found Maddie passed out in her bed with her HUGE bear! She is so good about sleep and I am so thankful. Most nights she will just say "night night" and run to her room.

Saturday morning we hit up Chick Fil A for breakfast and bought just a few groceries to get us by until we move. Trying to be creative with our meals and clear everything out of the pantry and freezer.

AJ took Maddie to the park while Molly and I went on a hike with Kelsey!

We did a hike up in the Palisades called Temescal Gateway Park.

Gorgeous cacti were everywhere!

And that view from the top! This picture doesn't do it justice, AT ALL. You could see beaches for miles.

We grabbed some food and drinks afterwards and Molly was (thankfully) so tired!

I headed home for a shower and a LOT of snuggles with my girl to end a pretty great Saturday.

Sunday morning AJ made me breakfast and kept the mimosas coming.

And Maddie was enjoying the whole Mother's Day deal as well, ha!

Flowers and wine for Mother's Day :)

And AJ and Maddie got me this gorgeous Kendra Scott necklace!

When AJ asked me what I wanted to do that day, I said look at house stuff and have a nice lunch. So we window shopped and had lunch at Nordstrom.

And then.. Maddie threw up in Pier 1. She had a 101 fever, so we promptly got her home for a bath and early jammies. It wouldn't be a proper Mother's Day without a little vomit, right???

Monday morning she was back to her normal, sassy self. No clue what that sickness was all about, but thankful it didn't stick around long..

Lastly.. this picture is from last night. WHO IS THIS BIG KID!? She loves to color so much and looks so stinkin grown up doing so. Slow down kiddo! Mama can't take it.

In Maddie Jane Mother's Day

My FIRST Mother's Day Weekend

Friday I received my very first Mother's Day gift from Maddie's daycare. I may have shed a tear or two. I only thought birthdays were awesome.. I mean birthdays are my jam.. but receiving a picture of my baby girl framed with popsicle sticks is THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD.

Miss Thing was all dressed up to go to dinner on Friday night..

And this is what she thinks about us going to sushi... again! ha

Saturday morning the house cleaner arrived early (Happy Mother's Day to meeeee) and we headed out to do a ton of errands. Little girl didn't last very long before she was OUT.

We pulled in to pick Molly up from daycare and BAM there was Caitlyn Jenner. (Her son Burt owns our doggy daycare and he could be the most down to Earth, genuine person in the world. He really tries to stay away from any kind of media.) So I played it cool, said good morning to her and she talked to Molly. Every time I see a celebrity, it always blows my mind that they are real people out doing their thing on Saturday just like me, so I never ask for pictures/autographs.. I'm sure they get sick of it. Buttttt I had to snag this one as we were driving away because.. #pictureoritdidnthappen

Next we were off to lunch.. had to find somewhere that can handle a stroller (a LOT of LA restaurants are just too small!) and had outside seating because we had Molly.. So Panera it was! And Maddie Jane had her first carbs.. Little does she know, it's just a slippery slope from here.. She actually really didn't eat any, but chewing on that loaf kept her content the entire lunch #parentingwin

Quick outfit change because Maddie was covered in gooey half chewed bread and she was down for an afternoon snooze. Oh that sweet baby... it's so hard for me to let her sleep. I just want to cuddle her!! (side note: yes she has an ugly scratch on her face.. I'm constantly cutting her nails and she's constantly flailing her arms.. sigh)

Nap time for Maddie Jane = Happy Hour on the balcony for parents!

Ohhh my husband knows my love language.. flowers and red wine. (And Oreos too, because I refuse to buy them, but if they are in the house....)

It was like Maddie girl KNEW what day it was.. She woke up around 5:30, took a bottle, and went back to sleep until 10am!!! She never sleeps in like that! Mama got to enjoy HOT coffee (not heated up in the microwave three times), breakfast in bed and mimosas!! Can it be Mother's Day every Sunday!?

AJ's dad and step mom sent me chocolate covered strawberries too!! May or may not had a few of those in bed too :)

After being lazy all morning, and an extra round of naps for everyone.. we finally made it out the house around 2pm to walk around Santa Monica and have a little sushi snack in between brunch and dinner. Oh this sweet baby.. she will always be the one who made me Mama. This day was so incredibly perfect and more meaningful than I could have ever imagined.

And this guy.. he pulled out all the stops! We had a trip to Carlsbad planned and dinner reservations and that all went out the window when Maddie got sick this week. In a few days time he managed to plan an even better weekend, spent mostly at home in our pjs! He is my world, my rock.. BEYOND blessed to call him mine.

Maddie Jane was off to bed and we wrapped up the best day ever with my amazing Cabernet I got for Mother's Day and shrimp with pesto sauce. I am blown away by the calls/texts/gifts I received from so many loved ones helping me celebrate my first Mother's Day. I am so blessed God has allowed me to be a Mom and over the moon I get the keep this job the rest of my life!
