In AJ Fourth of July Maddie Jane

Fourth of July

I was getting my post ready for Friday Favorites tomorrow and realized I had not blogged the 4th of July!! Oops!!! So let me give you a real quick recap of our first 4th in Dunwoody :)

The parade in Dunwoody was scheduled for 9am, so we grabbed some Starbucks and walked around to find a spot to catch the action.

We def made a mistake of sitting at the end of the route, so the parade didn't really get to us until 9:45.. it was HOT, and we didn't have much to entertain MJ.. she did great all things considered!

This girl has turned into a 100% Daddy's girl lately. She calls for him if she wakes up in the middle of the night, wants him to pick her up, and he is the ONLY one who can push her on the swing. And well... I'm not complaining, ha!

We headed home for a nap, grilled up some burgers, then we hit our neighborhood pool party!

It was PACKED, but we had such a good time! We stayed till almost 6pm!

After a quick shower, we headed to a backyard party in our neighborhood. I was so busy meeting new people and chasing the nugget, that this was the ONLY picture I snagged. It was SUCH a good night - we met so many families in the same stage of life as us.. similar aged kids.. finding that kind of tribe has been so high on my list for so long.

And then there were illegal neighborhood fireworks, ha!

Maddie Jane was pretty unsure of the big fireworks (she kept saying the sky was getting an owie, haha!) but the sparklers were her jam.

It was a really great holiday, spent all within a couple miles of our house. SO thankful I didn't have to be into work until noon, because we all crashed in bed after 11pm!

In Date Night Fourth of July Maddie Jane Weekends

Weekend + July 4th

Friday afternoon started out with a little stroll around the neighborhood waiting on Daddy to get done with his weekly video conference. Then we had a low key evening of grilling on the back deck.. per usual.

Saturday morning AJ left briiiiight and early to go fly fishing with Judson. He borrowed some gear from his Dad... needless to say, he was looking and feeling like a professional on his first ever fly fishing trip, ha!

I got this picture from him and was pretty impressed that he had caught a fish!!

Until he made the camera angle correct and realized he had pretty much caught some more bait.. ha!

Meanwhile, my girl and I hit up the grocery store and the Downtown Woodstock farmers market. It was a fun little morning with just the two of us :)

Then we set out to meet Bayley, Judson and Solomon at the splash pad. This place was sooo nice, and clean, and cheap. You can find us here pretttyy much every weekend until October!

Maddie Jane had SO much fun!! The rain came pretty quickly, but we were excited to get a solid hour of playing in!

We got Maddie girl home and ready for her new babysitter - Ms. Abby - so we could go on a date night!!

We hopped around to a couple places downtown Woodstock and loved every single minute of it. Pure for margs and chips, Truck & Tap for beer, and then finished the night off at Ice for a sushi roll and martini.

Sunday morning we made it to the early service at Woodstock City Church and loved it just as much as the first time. Happy to have found this little (well BIG) place!

Maddie Jane made this sweet little bag in Wumba Land. It might just be a paper bag with some stickers, but I sure do love seeing what she did!

We rode over to Roswell to have lunch with Bruce at Oak Street and this girl was OUT.

I wanted to do this cute little tray for the 4th, but with my ingredients quickly diminishing with Maddie's new yogurt covered pretzel craze, I made it Sunday night!

Girl could be a vegetarian.. just give her allllll the fruit, dairy, and sweets!

I also had plans to make a festive cocktail and this was as far as I got.. a couple berries thrown into my wine.. ha!

Maddie Jane saw Molly drinking water out of her pool, so she figured she needed to do so too!

For the 4th we went Downtown Woodstock (see a theme here? haha) for their annual July 4th parade!

Maddie was ALL about it. She saw a train for the first time (#caligirlprobs) and was mesmerized!

It was HOT. I mean insanely hot. Thank goodness we had some Kona Ice to cool us off!

Eekk! Love that little booty. Watermelon icee stain and all :)

We went home for naps -- Maddie Jane almost took a 3 hour one!! And then ended the day back on the back deck..

Until it started pouring rain and we snuggled up on the couch for a movie. After we got her to bed, we had a non-traditional 4th of July feast.. Parmesan corn and squash with whole grilled mackerel.

With SO much going on these past few weeks, it was nice to have a pretty low key holiday with just the three of us :) We didn't see fireworks or attend a big cookout, but it was time I will always treasure! Bring on another crazy weekend of guests and to dos!!

In Fourth of July OOTD Weekends

Weekend Snapshots - July 4th edition

Usually the day before a holiday, my company has half days for all employees. Devri, Kelsey and I took advantage and FINALLY went to the new Shake Shack in LA. It did not disappoint at.all. (I may have even went back with AJ the next day, but no picture.. so it technically didn't even happen, right?!)

LOVE these girls and pretty stinking happy that I get to see them 5 (or 6 or 7) days a week. Next stop on our afternoon off was shopping!

And what do you know.. I come home with a bunch of new striped clothing. I have a problem. I need an intervention. HELP.

This weekend we experienced probably my favorite parenting milestone to date.. Maddie Jane now holds her own bottle. Y'all this is a GAME CHANGER. Holy cow it is so nice to be able to free up some hands around here, soothe her during a car ride tantrum, and let her hangout with it in her crib or stroller!! I passed a woman with a teeny tiny baby screaming her head off in Nordstrom who was looking at our stroller with yearning eyes of freedom.. I wanted to give her the Hunger Games salute of solidarity! Just wait Mama, you're gonna be here soon.. and it is niiiiice.

And we are still working on solid foods. Most end up in her chair, on the floor, or in Molly's tummy.. but A+ for effort, right?

Me and Maddie in our element.. Target and Starbucks.

We had our festive wear on all.weekend.long. Why is holiday themed clothing for kids just 10x cuter!?

Monday morning we decided the get some exercise (and wear Molly out) before the festivities of the day started! Such a calm, cool morning down in Santa Monica!

Maddie girl had her first swinging experience (yes, in her pajamas..don't judge). And let's just say we might be hitting up the beach running path and the beach park every single weekend. Little girl was in HEAVEN.

Man oh man, the love between my girl and her Daddy. Melts my heart every single time.

Whew! It is HARD getting a picture of my girl these days. She is all over the place!!

Also hard to get a picture of her without her mouth open too, ha! She is constantly jabbering or drooling!

We made cupcakes and pesto pasta salad to take to the 4th of July cook out hosted by one of AJ's coworkers.

That dreary overcast burned right off and it was a gorgeous day!! We had burgers, hung out with friends, and enjoyed the neighborhood band.

I am obsessed with this shirt.. flowy and stripes.. what more could a girl want!?! I randomly found it looking at mom blog Instagram follow suggestions (I go down some crazy rabbit holes on Insta late at night! haha) It doesn't picture well and I kinda look prego (I am definitely not btw), but holy cow it is comfy and I feel so stinkin cute in it.. You can buy it HERE if you're lovin it too.

This girl was beyond perfect at the cookout. We were nervous with her being out in the sun, no where for her independent self to stretch out, and it being right smack dab in the middle of her nap time.. BUT she made it three whole hours, never fussed or cried and was out like a light before we even made it out of their neighborhood!

We enjoyed the rest of the afternoon out on the balcony while sweet girl napped, had a low key family dinner at home, and got everyone tucked in before the sun was even fully down!!

We topped the night off with the last of the cupcakes in bed. We have spent six Fourths together in six different locations! Cheers to many more, in many other places!!
