The next day AJ went deep sea fishing and us girls hung by the pool. I love that Maddie Jane was pretending to read AJ's Steven King book.
Of course I received a grand total of ONE picture from the guys... but AJ did catch a marlin!!
The guys got home around 4 and we all cleaned up to eat their fish they caught! We had enough for a bazillion fish tacos!
The next morning Mom and Chip went zip lining, and we went to a coffee plantation.
I'm not real sure WHAT I thought coffee beans looked like before roasting, but it certainly wasn't this little red guy..
Then we all went on a fun little nature hike through the coffee plantation.
Nico took the next two pics of MJ - she looks SO BIG.
That night (our final night) we went to a luau!!
We got there and they had messed our reservation up and had us on the wrong day. So we didn't get the front row VIP seating like we had paid for and it was drizzling. But that did not put a damper on Maddie Jane's night AT ALL.
And here is a big ole dump of pictures! It was the BEST way to end our Hawaii trip!
Our flight on Friday wasn't until 9pm, so we squeezed just a little more fun in. We were up bright and early to kayak through the flumes.
I took the go pro with us to capture all the beauty - I really need to figure out how to download that stuff and turn it into a little movie.
So flumes are man made trenches built to irrigate the sugar cane crops. They are obviously no longer utilized, so it has been turned into a tourist attraction.
And a lot of the flumes are through caves. It was crazy cold in there!
Such a cool morning - this area was about 30 miles north from our house. The scenery/landscape was SO different. Really glad we got to see a totally different part of the island.
And we spent the rest of the afternoon until our flight soaking up the last bit of paradise. Had to include a hunky picture of my doctor husband -- the whole reason behind the trip. We are SO PROUD of you babe!!
One last family selfie before heading to the airport..
Goodbye dreamy Big Island house.. you were SO good to us!
In route to the airport.. Maddie Jane didn't do great on the first flight, but thankfully slept the entirety of the LAX-ATL flight. Ya win some, you lose some. But man oh man, what a trip!!! So thankful to get to do this incredible get away with both of our moms.
