In Maddie Jane Molly Nature Weekends

Murphy's Ranch Hike

Saturday morning we were up bright and early (per usual...) and headed out on a family hike! We have done several hikes around LA (and way too many at Runyon Canyon) so we have been on the hunt for some new ones.

This was the first time Maddie Jane has gone on a hike (and the first time being in the baby carrier) and she did really well!! She giggled and kicked her feet the entire time.

Murphy's Ranch is an old bunker of a Nazi sympathizer that has been covered in graffiti. Kinda creepy down there all by ourselves, but really really cool to see.

There were a ton of different little paths that led to different areas of the compound, but this is the only area we saw.

Fortunately, this area had some great (but steep) stairs down to it -- the other ares were just dirt and gravel on an insanely steep hill.

Molly girl was LOVING it.

Look at that smile!! California is gorgeous y'all. And we really do try to take advantage of it every chance we get. We have quite the list of places we want to go before moving.

Dad was tired and swapped Maddie over to the back and girl was not having it.

So I took over back on the front side. We miss our family and friends and that sweet southern hospitality more than anything, but it sure feels good to breathe in some ocean air off those Southern California mountains :)

If you squint reallyyyy hard, you can see downtown Santa Monica and the ocean. (This hike is in an area of town called Pacific Palisades.)

LOVE this little family of mine and our weekend adventures. Can't wait to do things like this for years to come with more and more kids :)

Unfortunately, my heels didn't love this hike!! I had really long interview days at work on Thursday and Friday so I had some pretty awful blisters from high heels and then hiking several miles on top of that... no bueno. I'm still nursing these wounds four days later!!

This was one of the many things we have on our LA bucket list before we move.. Here is the complete list so I can keep us on track!!

1. Wayfarer's Chapel
2. Abalone Cove Shoreline Park
3. Catalina Island
4. Big Bear
5. Ronald Reagan Presidential Library
6. Sandstone Peak
7. California Science Center
8. Leo Carillo State Park
9. Los Angeles Rams Game
10. Trail Canyon Falls
