Oh Maddie Jane. You have us on our toes!! You are developing and your personality is coming out at lightning speed!! You are so well behaved and we can literally take you anywhere. You had your first experience in a highchair at a restaurant this month and it is now our new favorite Saturday outing! We are constantly taking you to the beach, the splash pad, the park.. just making sure you are a true Southern California baby. You love big. You are so incredibly happy, all.the.time. Your smile and giggle are so contagious. People can't help but to stop by our table at dinner and strike up a conversation with you in line at the grocery store. You have sass and spunk and you might be the spitting image of your Daddy, but you act just like your Mama :) You are such a delight and I know I say it month after month, but we are so incredibly proud to be your Mama and Daddy!!
EAT
We don't struggle in this category! Baby girl is taking on finger foods in leaps and bounds. We feed her 5-6 ounces every 3 hours during the day accompanied by baby food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, puffs for snacks throughout the day and give her finger foods at dinner (or at lunch on the weekends). We make sure she is getting all the nutrients with baby food and formula, then allow her to experiment with tasting/picking up foods. As far as real/solid foods go, we have tried scrambled eggs, toast, avocados, watermelon, strawberries, pancakes, ice cream, yogurt, pasta, rice, and tortillas. Everything is kinda hit or miss. Either way, she is a MESS after every single meal and we are all having a lot of fun with it!
(Side note: There is a generic instagram filter on this picture, no other editing. How insane are her eyes!?!)
SLEEP
Sleep has been much better this month! We have been pretty solid sleeping through the night! Nap times are getting a lot more difficult now that she can crawl. Once we lie her down in the crib pretty much asleep, she pops up on all fours ready to play again. Fortunately she (and we) have gotten pretty good with the cry it out for a few minutes and she finally falls asleep on her own. We are currently trying to figure out a new night time routine. (Before it was bath, bottle, bed all around 7:30pm) But now... 1. She needs a bath immediately after dinner at 6pm because she is a MESS and 2. She has been waking up around 5am, so we know we need to push bedtime till later. We are trying bath earlier, more play time, then bed around 8:30.. it's a learning curve for everyone.. Little girl loves her room and her bed and has done SO well with a routine. We will get this new one figured out soon :)
Holy.cow. Talk about development!! This month was by far the biggest month of development for our little girl. She is up on all fours army crawling everywhere. She now sits up without assistance (and prefers to be that way). She can stand up holding on to things or our hands for quite some time. She loves her toys and books and can really stay focused on playing with one thing at a time. She has finally mastered being mobile in her walker and is always on the go!! Babbling and talking all.the.time. Her first word was Dada followed by Bye Bye.. not a single Mama in sight! She laughs, she giggles, she LOVES LIFE. She is so observant and really takes in everything around her. She is mischievous, and LOUD and will definitely not be our shy kid :)
LOVE/HATE
You still LOVE bath time and even more so now that you take them in the big bathtub. You LOVE your bath toys and the wash cloth and HATE when it's time to get out. You all the sudden HATE lying down to have you diaper changed.. I think it's the more having to be still than the actual diaper change. You LOVE your books - we read lots and lots and lots. You LOVE the stroller and have taken some pretty good naps in there this month while parents have been trying to be more active. You HATE when your squeeze pouches or puffs are all gone. You LOVE your puppy Molly and are constantly trying to get to her/talk to her/pet her. You LOVE standing up and looking in the mirror. You LOVE when Daddy gives your raspberries on your neck or when Mommy makes silly faces. You HATE when we leave you in your room to fall asleep and LOVE when we return the next morning (literally squealing in excitement). You LOVE Disney and our little morning routine of watching it with coffee for Mommy and a bottle for Maddie in bed. And of course, you LOVE the Georgia Bulldogs!!
